Pyra, the Black / Death Metal formation from Italy is back after an excellent self-titled debut EP in late 2022. The band now presents their 1st full length album entitled: Those Who Dwell in the Fire. The album is clearly a follow up on their EP as their sound gets more explored and pushed even further into the depts of a Black & Death Metal combination. The production is very aggressive, yet, very clear with the guitars riffing raw rhythm chords and clear melodies in combination with a filthy bass undertone that gives you "almost" that brutal (slam) death metal sound. The drums are pounding furious from beginning till the end with a bone crushing snare that compliments the bass tones in the production, where the vocals are sounding more low and wicked than ever before. The stench of Death Metal in a Black Metal jacket is present on this one! We already acknowledged the musicianship of Pyra on their self-titled EP, however, one can rest assure that with "Those Who Dwell in the Fire" the band shows us that they are far from done and reached an even higher level in both writing and production! All there is left to say is: that this is one Beast of a Record that every Death and Black Metal fans should own in their collection!
