TRIVAX unleash their magnum opus and third full-length album, The Great Satan. Far from a typical Black Metal title, The Great Satan is a bold exploration of the dark side of Islam and the turmoil of the Middle East, particularly the catastrophic 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran led by the mullahs. The cover art portrays Ayatollah Khomeini as The Great Satan, symbolizing relentless oppression and countless deaths—including children, as referenced in Operation Ramadan—perpetrated through religious extremism and deceit. Burning mosques in the background reinforce the band’s scathing vision. This is no fantasy Satanism; it is real-world darkness.
Musically and thematically, the album embodies rebellion, violence, and ecstatic intensity, fearlessly addressing truths that many so-called extreme bands avoid. Beyond its audacious concept, The Great Satan is TRIVAX’s most dynamic and sophisticated work to date, with razor-sharp production by Samuel Turbit at Ritual Sound. It stands as a statement of radical extreme art: “No Gods, No Masters!”
The album fuses Middle Eastern melodies with Metal, weaving the haunting tones of the Oud and Baglama into a relentless sonic assault. Lyrics shift between English, Persian, and Arabic, adding cultural depth and defiance. Each track is a universe of its own, merging the raw power of Death, Black, and Thrash Metal with rich regional influences, creating an unforgettable and provocative musical journey.
