Title: Half good and half bad
Comments: Ezkroth knows a lot about Swedish death metal... A LOT!!!! His history is interesting and informative and reminded me about some wonderful bands from that era that I had forgotten about. He quickly analyzes the development of that scene and gives pertinent and intelligent information for the reader.
All in all the first half is a great read. However, there are two fairly large problems I have with this book. The first is the completely unnecessary history of extreme metal. Very few people outside of metal are going to read this book. Most of us know how metal formed and quite honestly some of his information is not totally correct. The fact was, in america, there were two different schools... thrash metal and speed metal. Thrash metal was metal the borrowed the aesthetic,
