Helmed by the tyrant Werwolf—whose involvement in the black metal scene stretches back more than two decades, beginning as the original vocalist of HORNA—SATANIC WARMASTER has unleashed classic after classic. From early essentials like Strength and Honour and Opferblut to more recent monuments such as Carelian Satanist Madness and Nachzehrer, each release has come strictly at the band’s own pace.
Longtime supporters HELLS HEADBANGERS, in conspiracy with Werewolf Records, proudly present the worldwide release of SATANIC WARMASTER’s fifth full-length, Fimbulwinter. It has been five long years since Nachzehrer, and although the band remained active with a handful of 7-inch EPs and splits during that time, Fimbulwinter is the first full-length statement to capture the Warmaster’s evolution.
Highly anticipated, Fimbulwinter sees SATANIC WARMASTER venturing into more epic and triumphant realms, yet cloaked in an even icier atmosphere than before. One could call it a travelogue through both SATANIC WARMASTER’s vast discography and the classic legacy of ’90s black metal. Indeed, while the band has long shaped the very paradigm of modern Finnish black metal—one of the most prolific and recognizable scenes worldwide—Werwolf remains both iconoclast and purist, taking familiar tropes and bending them to his own diabolic design.
