Detailed Description
Pestilence, one of the foremost and most influential Dutch extreme metal bands, was unequivocally established in 1986 by guitarist and vocalist Patrick Mameli and drummer Marco Foddis. Over the years, Pestilence has released seven full-length albums, including iconic works such as 'Consuming Impulse,' 'Spheres,' and their debut 'Maleus Malefaricum.'
The album 'The Dysentry Penace' is a compelling collection encompassing both demos recorded in the late '80s. The first four tracks originate from their debut demo 'Dysentry' from 1987. In late 1987, Pestilence recorded their second demo, 'The Penance,' featuring the inaugural recording with the legendary Martin van Drunen on vocals (Asphyx, Hail of Bullets).
As a bonus, the album includes two live tracks from Pestilence's inaugural festival performance in Eibergen, Holland, in 1988, sharing the stage with Kreator, Death Angel, Holy Moses, Thanatos, and others. The release features exclusive liner notes from Patrick Mameli, offering unique insights.
The cover art, a remake and artistic interpretation of the original two demo covers, is crafted by Roberto Toderico (Sinister, Soulburn, Asphyx). All ten songs have been remastered by Dan Swano at Unisound Studios (Edge of Sanity, Opeth, Hail of Bullets, etc.), ensuring a sonic experience that captures the essence of Pestilence's early brilliance.
