In addition to being the most popular schlager artist in Finland in the 90s, Kirka was many other things. His career began in the beat period of the late 60s, and in the early 70s he recorded a few soulful classic rock albums with the help of the biggest stars of the country's current progressive rock scene.
The band on Nykyaikaa (1972) was composed of musicians from Tasavallan Presidentti (with vocalist Frank Robson and guitarist Jukka Tolonen writing several songs on the album) and Pepe & Paradise. The Svart LP is the first time the album is available on vinyl since 1972, and in addition to a new vinyl master it adds liner notes by album producer Matti Laipio to the package.
