ANTICHRIST - Forbidden World (12" LP)

Antichrist, Sweden's rising Thrash Metal sensation, comprises Sven Nilsson (drums), Anton Sunesson (vocals), Gabriel Forslund (guitars), Filip Runesson (guitars), and Gobbe Hennigsson (bass). The band garnered recognition when Fenriz of Darkthrone fame named them "Band of the Week" for his popular internet column. Antichrist was honored by Fenriz's praise, acknowledging his impeccable taste in Heavy Metal. Another established musician, rumored to be from Entombed, was seen wearing an Antichrist shirt at one of their earliest gigs.

While Antichrist holds a deep appreciation for Swedish Death Metal legends like Entombed, their influences extend far beyond. Their musical interests span from King Crimson, Camel, El Ritual, and Blue Oyster Cult to Possessed, Morbid Saint, Slayer, and more. They emphasize that good music transcends genre boundaries, and they often enjoy listening to old, forgotten Heavy Metal classics with friends.

Antichrist's journey began in 2007, leading to the release of their first demo, "Crushing Metal Tape," in 2008, followed by "Put to Death" two years later. Before forming Antichrist, the band members were part of various obscure groups like Witchgrave, Eviscerated, Disborn, The Rotting, and Awaken Horror. However, Antichrist believes they will surpass these previous projects in popularity, fueled by their passion for delivering skull-crushing Thrash Metal.

Their debut album, "Forbidden World," showcases their evolution as songwriters, with a more serious and intricate approach while retaining their signature style. Songs like "Victims of the Blade," "Militia of Death," and "Terror Dimension" demonstrate their raw, old-school Thrash sound, poised to make a significant impact in the Metal underground.

When asked if mainstream Metal audiences will embrace their music, Antichrist remains uncertain but emphasizes their focus on the underground scene. They created "Forbidden World" for themselves and like-minded individuals who will appreciate and understand it.

Although Antichrist is part of the thriving Swedish Metal scene, they don't necessarily identify with a specific movement. While some of the mentioned bands are friends, Antichrist's music and style can differ significantly from others in the scene.
