Truly titled, "Diabolical Flames of the Ascended Plague" brings together two of the most bestial death metal cults of the modern era.
IMPRECATION, a band that fought the good fight throughout the '90s, crafted a handful of now-classic EPs and demos that showcased a vision decades ahead of its time. Reinvigorated in 2009, IMPRECATION continues to grow stronger, defying the usual trend of veteran bands mellowing out. These Satanic Texas warlords deliver two exclusive tracks (plus a mystical outro) on this split, hammering and slicing, dooming and dredging, all while conjuring a maniacal warlust that is as black and bewitching as it gets. Notably, they include a rerecording of their 1994 track "Emperor of Infernal Spirits," featuring guest vocals by Seth Decay of Ritual Decay and Morbus 666.
BLACK BLOOD INVOCATION refuses to be overshadowed, contributing three exclusive tracks (plus an atmosphere-setting intro) that build on the malevolent momentum of their preceding EP and demo. Their militantly pulsing blackgrind exudes a uniquely Greek essence—goat-like, ominous, and otherworldly. While influences like Archgoat and VON were clear before, BLACK BLOOD INVOCATION now carves out more individualist ground, tantalizing fans in anticipation of their inevitable full-length debut.
