Red lightning emerged in the dark! The ground trembled as if torn by Fenrir's fiery claws. Beneath the ice and rock, the beast—trapped for ages—broke its flaming chains. The gods trembled; fear filled their hearts. Flames soared into the heavens. The roar of a rabid wolf resounded with the force of a thousand exploding volcanoes!
There is no time to say goodbye, no chance to take a final look at the sunset. The inevitable end is near—the final battle approaches—and no more dawn shall come. Fenrir’s claws tore through matter; his fangs bit into the barriers between worlds. Burning venom, like crawling fiery serpents, penetrated and wove through space, igniting the flames of destruction.
Destiny arrives with the roar and thunder of unknown weapons. Thousands of lightning bolts illuminate the scorched battlefield. The gods strike—and with them, their faithful armies! Fenrir’s eyes glow with hatred, hotter than a thousand suns. Steel melts in that glow; brave hearts are reduced to ashes. The destroyer’s claws and fangs, like the Furies of doom, conduct a deadly orchestra of annihilation.
This is the hour of Ragnarok—the twilight symphony. This is the beginning of the last unfinished story, before the end of time, before the end of light and all life. Here lies the final breath of light, written in a word that will be annihilated tomorrow. Ragnarok has come!
Standing at the threshold of Ragnarok, Graveland returns with a new full-length album—music forged from the ashes of past battles. These new songs rise like a phoenix from the realms of myth and legend. Echoing the spirit of Graveland's most epic works, such as Thousand Swords, this album continues the band’s legacy in its purest form: Epic Pagan Metal.
This is the music to prepare you for Ragnarok—music rooted in the earliest era of Graveland, when it was recorded by a full band lineup. Sword, arrow, and spear gripped in strong hands, hardened by sweat, blood, and war. Hour of Ragnarok was forged by a three-person lineup—three artisans of warlike sound:
*Rob "Darken" – vocals, guitars, keyboards
*Skyth – bass
*Ahrin – drums
The songs were created over the last three years, with work gaining momentum in 2020. Great time and effort were invested in composing and recording the symphonic backtracks that form the album’s epic foundation—a continuation of the musical ideas first explored on 1050 Years of Pagan Cult. The album was recorded at Rocketbooster Studio in Italy!
