Since their inception in 1994, Evoken’s genre-defining funeral doom/death metal has remained unmatched in density, darkness, and desolation. Alongside pioneers like Thergothon, Winter, and Disembowelment, Evoken forged the foundations of this scene. A Caress of the Void emerged as their heaviest and most abyssal work to date, a towering monument of dread. The tracks on Omniscient, written around the same time, are a continuation of this era, capturing the same overwhelming despair and depth. These songs are like cold nails driven slowly into the coffin’s lid—a suffocating doom no fan could resist when both releases arrived in 2007 and 2010.
