By now DECEASED need no introduction. One of the longest-running American death metal bands, since 1985, DECEASED have been there for it all: death metal's genesis, its creative peak, its commercial peak and subsequent sink into trendiness, the eventual fallout and "un-trendiness," its rebirth at the hands of a new generation, and on and on. There they have stood, simply and 100% always DECEASED, not caring what year it is or what is hip - simply, always, DEATH METAL FROM THE GRAVE!
To celebrate their 40th anniversary, DECEASED now present a literally MASSIVE 2CD compilation fittingly titled March of the Cadavers - 40 Years of Death Metal From the Grave. Featuring nearly two-and-a-half hours of music, this compilation includes a "best of" selection across the band's sizable and distinct discography - from the pivotal progression of their '90s work on to the intermittent yet no-less-satisfying work in this millennium, with 2000's Supernatural Addiction serving as the bridge between the two eras. Every album and every recorded lineup (as well as crucial EPs like 1992's The 13 Frightened Souls and 2001's Behind the Mourner's Veil) is represented here, providing a succinct-yet-expansive overview of the eternal DECEASED aesthetic.
As an exclusive bonus, included are two brand-new tracks, "Dusted" and "Cure for the Grieving Widow"; faithful and fun covers of Black Sabbath's "Die Young" and Venom's "Lady Lust"; and, as the collection's title hints, a re-recording of both "March of the Cadavers" and "Sick Thrash" from their very first demo, The Evil Side of Religion.
Completed by liner notes from founding frontman King Fowley, March of the Cadavers - 40 Years of Death Metal From the Grave is a crucial collection for DECEASED fans old and new. UP THE TOMBSTONES!!!
