| Rotten to the core and finally reissued with proper presentation, EMBALMER’s 2012 Promo returns in a new digipak edition—still a CD-R, like the original 2012 version, but now housed in professional packaging and limited to just 200 copies. Long sought after in the underground, this reissue offers a grim glimpse into a key transitional era for the Cleveland death metal legends.
At the heart of the release is the exclusive track “The Origin of Scum & the Deities of Filth,” a festering, mid-paced crawl through diseased riffs and sewer-drenched atmosphere. Rick Fleming (of There Was Blood Everywhere notoriety) delivers his unmistakable, bile-choked vocals, backed by Roy Stewart’s relentless drumming and Lou Spencer’s (Manticore) basswork, thick and grimy as a burial mound. The guitar duo of Steve Pedley and Brian Baxter (both of Regurgitation) rounds out the lineup, injecting the track with a twisted, buzzsaw attack.
The promo version of “Cannibalistic Future” provides a raw, early incarnation of the song that would later be re-recorded for Emanations from the Crypt with a different lineup. This take is stripped-down and unrefined—an essential document for fans interested in the track’s evolution and the band's progression at the time.
