Darkness engulfs the heart, and the scent of blood awakens a desire once unknown. Beneath the full moon in the northern Carpathians, packs of wolves emerge from the depths of a dark and menacing forest. A cursed legion of shadows marches under the sign of the hated Dracula, with bloodstained claws and fangs raised to the deadly moonlight. Let the war drums sound—thunderous and relentless—echoing with the fury of the reddest lightning. The unholy legion follows the scent of warm blood, chasing the fleeing trail of the sun. The son of darkness, blood, and fire is coming!
Originally written in 1994, both tracks on this mini-album first appeared on the cult release Carpathian Wolves. At the time, Graveland was delving deep into themes of Satanism and vampirism, creating an atmosphere that has remained unmatched in their discography. This recording captures a unique, vampiric aura—one never replicated on any other Graveland release.
Years later, Darken revealed that the inspiration behind this haunting atmosphere came from Blue Öyster Cult’s song Nosferatu. Five years after Carpathian Wolves was released, he returned to its most vampiric moments, re-recording them for the mini-CD Impaler’s Wolves.
Here, we offer you the Black Metal Grail of vampirism. Listen in the autumn months, with the windows open, the lights off, and the full moon above. Glory to Dracula—the Impaler of Darkness!
