HELL MILITIA, a congregation of the most vile and depraved figures the French underground has produced—featuring members known for their work in MUTIILATION, ARKHON INFAUSTUS, and TEMPLE OF BAAL—burst onto the scene with their debut full-length in 2005. Preceded only by a demo and a split 7-inch appearance, the aptly titled Canonisation of the Foul Spirit was unleashed to desecrate all that is pure and sacred with unrelenting contempt. Comprising 10 tracks (or Psalms), the album benefits from a professional yet raw studio production that allows each instrument to be clearly distinguished without sounding sterile or overly polished. The riffs, reminiscent of the members’ other projects, and the strength of the songwriting confirm that HELL MILITIA are far from novices.
