A newer, shadowy entity hailing from Portugal's ever-thriving raw black metal underground, in the past three years have INJURIA released a debut demo and then successive splits with Morte Perpetua and Vz-rbrezV. Theirs is an ornery and agitated sound, now reaching its fruition with the aptly titled Profanacão Medieval. Raw in the truest dungeonic way rather than blown-out fake "fuzz," riffs clang and gnaw with an almost-dreary resignation that soon bubbles to a boil of delirium and distress. Each of the four lengthy tracks here takes its time - disarmingly patient, even, for Profanacão Medieval totals 33 minutes - but they collectively impart a sensation of simmering, deeply-seated possession that's given further, haunting credence with the rattling of chains: audio verite that's the truest of the true. Profane the bastard's birth with Profanacão Medieval!
