Although the band's history spans approximately 35 years, they have performed live only a handful of times, primarily in their early days, when NHV and his bandmates were still teenagers. All of those performances took place in Beherit's native Finland. Nearly three decades have passed since their last live appearance, but in April 2024, Beherit accepted an invitation to perform their first show outside of Finland at the NWN!/Hospital Fest in Osaka, Japan. A few months later, on August 31, 2024, Beherit appeared in Prague, Czech Republic.
Accompanying NHV at these shows were Beherit's original drummer, Sodomatic Slaughter; bassist Abyss, Twisted Baptizer, who played on the Engram album; and guitarist and vocalist Black Moon Necromancer, whose work with Witchcraft represents a tangible continuation of Beherit's legacy. With a setlist predominantly drawn from Drawing Down the Moon, along with select tracks from The Oath of Black Blood and Engram, the band's current live performances are designed to be immersive experiences.
As those in attendance will attest, these performances transcended a mere recitation of fan favorites. Through the use of intros, interludes, samples, synthesizers, extended passages of hypnotic repetition, and carefully crafted arrangements, Beherit created something extraordinary.
This album, sourced from a soundboard recording of the Prague show, faithfully captures their entire performance. Unlike many live albums in the underground scene that serve as mere catalog fillers, this recording—like all great live albums—stands as a work of art in its own right, inviting repeated listens and delivering a truly singular experience.
