Australia's WOODS OF DESOLATION have quietly become one of the world's preeminent atmospheric black metal exponents. Started as a solo project in 2005 by multi-instrumentalist D., it has been honed over almost two decades and dozens of recordings into a vessel of sublime beauty and sadness. After having a cult breakout, Woods of Desolation released 'Sorh' (2009), a four-song EP that refined D.'s loud and tortured but also, mysteriously therapeutic sound.
