Detailed Description
„Slave of God" from 1988 is the only album by the Ravensburg band HELLBREATH, which they produced completely on their own. The original vinyl is kind of an ultimate rarity. But the main argument for a re-release is the unique, quirky style being much appreciated by many metal fans, even though others may not understand the often complex songs and prefer to stick to mainstream bands being easier to understand. HELLBREATH are and remain a secret tip for insiders! What do we hear on „Slave Of God"? Basically the already mentioned style of a kind, which exists only on this one single record!!! The band itself could do little with the eighties metal at first and were rather rooted in the seventies (e.g. by Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Pink Floyd as mentioned in the liner notes, but also Mot-rhead, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest). But also speed and thrash metal bands like Slayer, Metallica and Exodus (also named by the band) massively inspired and influenced Hellbreath. And now you just have to imagine a combination of the 70s heroes with this new level of hardness and you get a bit closer to the point. It sounds like as if the prog and hard rock of the seventies would turn into speed / thrash metal without a stopover! Expecting that from a current band today wouldn't even be so special, but in 1988 it was almost unimaginable. Furthermore, instead of using lurid band photos, Hellbreath just put a work of art on the cover. They simply did EVERYTHING in a different way! That the first gig took place in a prison or that they rented a house and set up the studio in it, are only two more proofs for the band's fascinating eccentrism. Now „Slave Of God" is available on CD for the first time, re-recorded from the original master tape and remastered by Neudi (Manilla Road, Trance, Griffin etc.). As a bonus you can find some songs of the follow-up group FRANTIC FRONT, which arrived at ZYX Music shortly before the deadline. They are also marked by an untamed creativity, although a little bit more Death Metal like sounding. The booklet contains unseen photos, an interview with the band and other rare illustrations.
