Detailed Description
Includes demo material of "Sudentaival" and "Ordo Regnum Sathanas" from year 2000. Re-issued by Frostscald Records in November 2010 with new artwork.

Horna has built a substantial body of work to bolster their career, characterized by a series of full-length albums and numerous split releases. The band frequently compiles unreleased tracks or alternate recordings, offering these to their dedicated fan base. While these compilations are not offensive, they often lack significant impact, much like last year's "Musta Kaipuu" released through Debemur Morti and later Moribund. "Kun Synkkä Ikuisuus Avautuu" is another example, featuring demo tracks, some of which appeared on the 2001 album "Sudentaival" or the "Ordo Regnum Sathanas" collections from earlier in the band's history. Originally released in 2006, Frostscald/Silenced Voices have reissued this compilation with much improved artwork, making it more accessible to fans.

Given that Horna's full-length studio albums are intentionally rough in production, this demo material is even more raw and unpolished. At best, it sounds like a barbaric rehearsal session or a poor tape recording of a live performance. However, this rawness might appeal to the die-hard fans who appreciate black metal in its most unrefined form. The overall sound is harsh and chaotic, with garbled vocals that are almost indistinguishable, adding to the abrasive atmosphere created by the fuzzy guitars and clanging drums. Tracks from the "Sudentaival" sessions, including the title track, "Skaldiriimu," "Vihasta ja Arvista," "Hautajaisyö," "Talventuoja," and "Kun Synkkä Ikuisuus Avautuu," exude a cold, stark majesty through their simple yet impactful compositions. "Vihasta ja Arvista" stands out with its creeping bass-led bridge rhythm. Additionally, "Korpin Hetki," "Ihmisviha," and "Ordo Regnum Sathanas" from the original Woodcut reissue of the band's debut are included, maintaining a consistent style with the "Sudentaival" tracks.

This release is aimed at collectors with a keen interest in the band's early recordings, despite the superior quality of their studio versions. Frostscald has done an excellent job enhancing the visual appeal of this compilation, with striking cover art and Shatraug's note on the back panel. As a devoted Horna fan, the rough versions of the "Sudentaival" material are intriguing, though they don't compare favorably to the official releases. New listeners should start with albums like "Haudankylmydden Mailla," "Envaatnags Eflos Solf Esgantaavne," or the outstanding "Sotahuuto." For long-time fans, this compilation offers a glimpse into the band's chaotic origins, serving as a visually appealing addition to their extensive discography.
