Originally released in 2001 by the cult label Hardcore Holocaust, this collection brought BLACK UNIFORMS to a new generation of fans eager for the gritty, UK82-inspired metal sound. Now, this fully authorized reissue marks the first time in over 20 years that Splatter Punx on Acid is available on vinyl. BLACK UNIFORMS are back, as unstoppable and enduring as ever!
BLACK UNIFORMS are a cornerstone in the cult legacy of the Swedish hardcore punk scene. Originally active from 1981 to 1983 and then from 1986 until the early '90s, BLACK UNIFORMS emerged from a movement ignited by Discharge's seminal Why?, evolving into a distinct and influential force that still resonates today. Early on, their sound was heavily influenced by Discharge, but during their second run, they adopted a thrashier edge, akin to the transformation seen in bands like The Exploited, English Dogs, and particularly Broken Bones.
BLACK UNIFORMS are perhaps best known for their connection to Cliff Lundberg, who played bass for Moderat Likvidation during the band's hiatus and later became the guitarist for Anti-Cimex during its legendary second phase before founding Driller Killer. However, BLACK UNIFORMS' own contributions stand tall, capturing the raw intensity of their era. Their sole album, Faces of Death —originally released in 1989 and soon to be reissued by HELTER SKELTER—offers a definitive take on metal-infused Swedish hardcore punk. The band's demo recordings, later compiled on Splatter Punx on Acid, are equally essential, packed with raw, unfiltered energy.
