A true underground phenomenon, DRUDKH has remained steadfast in their mystique and artistry. Through a fruitful partnership with Season of Mist, their entire catalog is now being meticulously reissued, beginning with their iconic debut Forgotten Legends (2003). The highly sought-after Autumn Aurora returns with carefully restored and remastered audio, complemented by stunning new artwork.
DRUDKH is a cornerstone of black metal, hailing from Ukraine and deeply rooted in heathen poetry, nature, and the almost-forgotten Slavonic culture. Featuring members of Hate Forest, their sound merges the raw intensity of that band with the atmospheric melancholy of Burzum. With Autumn Aurora (2004), DRUDKH elevated their craft, enhancing their already impressive debut with the addition of ethereal keyboards that add depth and dreamlike textures.
Musically, Autumn Aurora embodies the band’s signature Slavonic Pagan Metal style, weaving epic, folk-inspired melodies into vast, cinematic soundscapes steeped in melancholy. This release marked the first incorporation of synthesizers and keyboards, amplifying its atmospheric qualities and earning it a reputation as DRUDKH’s most immersive and evocative album.
Lyrically, the creative vision of Roman Sayenko shines, exploring themes of nature mysticism, seasonal transitions, philosophy, and Ukrainian mythology. Inspired by 19th and 20th-century Ukrainian poets, the album resonates as both a celebration of heritage and a meditation on timeless human emotions.
