Detailed Description
LP/7", restored & mastered by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony.
As one of the pioneering European bands in extreme metal, Acid quickly gained a cult following with just three albums—largely due to their uncompromising sound, which was among the heaviest in the early 1980s. The Belgian quintet broke new ground, especially with their singer, Kate de Lombaert. While they may not have been the very first female-fronted metal band, they were certainly the most intense, with de Lombaert’s fierce vocals fronting a raw and aggressive sound. Their self-titled 1983 debut showcased a proto-speed metal style influenced heavily by Motörhead and Venom, yet even rougher in execution. Tracks like “Hell on Wheels” and the aptly titled “Hooked on Metal” from their earliest sessions, along with the blistering “Anvill” and the darkly theatrical closer “Satan,” set a high bar for both themselves and the wider metal scene.
