DEAD CHRIST - Calling For The Black Heart Of Damnation (DOUBLE CASSETTE Box Set)
United Kingdom | Black
Detailed Description
Emerging from the enigmatic depths of Bristol in the early 1990s, Dead Christ stood as the original British Black Metal cult, reigning supreme in those early days of the second wave of Black Metal. Embedded within the authentic Black Metal underground of that era, a time characterized by originality and individuality, Dead Christ drew inspiration from the British Extreme Grindcore and skinhead subculture, as well as the 1980s Black Metal tradition. Their music pushed the boundaries toward an extreme and brutal direction, drawing parallels with bands such as Beherit, Bestial Summoning, Impaled Nazarene, Impurity, and, of course, Blasphemy, sharing with the latter two a Black Metal Skinhead aesthetic.
As their journey unfolded, they evolved by trading some of their grindcore aggression for a more mid-paced, doom-laden form of Black Metal. Driven by a fascination with horror movies and the dark lore of Charles Manson, Dead Christ successfully recorded three demos and two EPs before vanishing into obscurity around late 1993. Notably, their unreleased 1992 studio EP, deemed by many as their finest recording, was slated for release through a now-infamous Greek label known for unscrupulous practices, and it remained shelved and unheard until now. This long-lost gem finally sees the light of day.
