2023 pressing limited to 500 copies transparent LP with fat gold and white splatter. Long time sold-out, classic album re-released on a limited vinyl.
AOSOTH, the brainchild of MkM (founder of Antaeus), serves as a vessel for exploring the darker realms of black and death metal. While Antaeus embodies violent and relentless black metal, AOSOTH takes a more dissonant approach, incorporating elements of '90s death metal. This sonic evolution is driven by guitarist and producer Bst (The Order of Apollyon, VI), who composed the album’s music, creating a soundscape that is as unsettling as it is intricate.
Joining MkM and Bst are bassist INRVI (founder and mastermind of VI) and second guitarist Saroth (Hell Militia, Temple of Baal), forming a lineup that is as experienced as it is formidable. V: The Inside Scriptures marks the concluding chapter of AOSOTH's conceptual and musical narrative, diverging significantly from its predecessors, III and IV: Arrow in Heart. While retaining the band’s signature intensity, this final installment introduces a more suffocating and dynamic atmosphere, solidifying its place as a distinctive and transformative entry in their discography.
The journey to complete V: The Inside Scriptures was fraught with challenges. Spanning nearly three years, the recording process was disrupted by personal trials faced by Bst and MkM, with the album nearly being abandoned entirely. Yet through perseverance, the band brought this harrowing vision to life. Drums were recorded by T. at Hybreed Studios (Temple of Baal, Glorior Belli, VI), while all other instruments, along with mixing and mastering, were handled at BST Studios, ensuring a cohesive and meticulously crafted sound.
The album's haunting visuals further enhance its narrative. The cover artwork was created by renowned artist Benjamin A. Vierling (Nightbringer, Weapon), while the layout and supplementary photography were provided by Somnyum. AOSOTH’s iconic logo, designed by Erik Danielsson of Watain, ties together the aesthetic and thematic elements of this release.
V: The Inside Scriptures stands as a testament to the band’s resilience and creative vision—a closing statement that is both unsettling and unforgettable, cementing AOSOTH’s legacy within the black/death metal underground.
