Cult of Horror return with Hermetik Heretik, a blazing sophomore assault that solidifies their place in the South American blackened speed metal underground. Featuring members with ties to Whipstriker, Apocalyptic Raids, Comando Nuclear, and Bordel Inferno, this Brazilian force delivers ten unrelenting tracks of pure metallic filth—dripping in heretical blasphemy, satanic rites, and old-school barbarity.

Right from the start, Hermetik Heretik seethes with unholy energy, drawing from the sinister speed of early Bathory, the feral chaos of Sarcófago, and the anthemic, chainsaw riffing of classic Motörhead-fueled black/thrash. The guitars rip and tear through frantic tremolo runs and sinister hooks, weaving a relentless wall of sonic destruction. The rhythm section keeps the momentum punishing, balancing d-beat-adjacent pummel with the headbanging drive of speed metal’s finest moments.

Vocalist Pazuzu is the embodiment of filth and fury, his vile snarls exuding pure menace. His delivery is less a performance and more an invocation—like a possessed preacher roaring out fire-and-brimstone over a backdrop of scorching riffs and apocalyptic percussion. Tracks like "Philosophy of a Knife" shift from high-speed torment to grimy, doom-laden stomps, while “Murder by Witchcraft” leans into pure thrashing violence with a venomous edge. The occult and horror-laced themes drip from every lyric, steeped in the same VHS-era depravity that fuels the band's aesthetic.

Unlike many of their peers, Cult of Horror never lets the rawness overshadow the hooks—every song is packed with undeniable riffs, moments of swaggering groove, and just enough eerie melody to keep things dynamic. It’s the kind of album that makes you want to raid your record collection, crack open a bottle of the cheapest, filthiest booze you can find, and bask in the unrepentant evil of underground metal at its most savage. If Whipstriker, Hellripper, or Deathhammer are regulars in your rotation, Hermetik Heretik is essential listening.
