With their latest album, Ranger continues the path laid down on their previous demo, Insurgency. Disillusioned with the music industry and traditional studio environments, the band chose to record in their home studio, allowing for full creative freedom. The core tracks were crafted by the band’s two primary members, but the album also features contributions from notable guest musicians, including live guitarist Atte Nikku (Rapid) and John Finne (Obnoxious Youth). Guest vocals were provided by Emma Grönqvist and Sebastian Bergman (Chevalier) and Iiro Karttunen (Emissary).
Musically, the album showcases an expanded sound, blending acoustic drums with electronic elements, drum machines, theremin, and even air rifles to create a distinctive sonic palette. For the first time, the band fulfills a long-standing ambition by incorporating Finnish lyrics, tackling themes such as rising militarism, unemployment, and life in a capitalist system. To reach a wider audience, the album is presented in both Finnish and English.
This release represents both a conclusion and a fresh start for Ranger. Returning to their home studio and reuniting with Ektro marks the closing of a creative circle while simultaneously signaling a new chapter. Rising from the ruins, Ranger is back—stronger, bolder, and ready for the future.
