CD 1 presents their cult classic debut full length, 'Power And Pain', a relentless onslaught of thrash metal fury. CD 2 includes the follow-up album, 'Ticket To Mayhem', which further solidified Whiplash's reputation as one of thrash metal's most intense acts. Finally, CD 3 features 'Insult To Injury', the band's final album before their first split, recorded with new vocalist Glenn Hansen.
Founded in 1984 in New Jersey, Whiplash was led by the singular vision of guitarist/vocalist Tony Portaro. While never achieving mainstream success, the band remained a cult favorite among fans of raw, chaotic thrash metal. Notably, original drummer Tony Scaglione filled in for Dave Lombardo of Slayer during the tour for 'Reign In Blood'.
Whiplash has since returned to the metal scene, touring and recording since 2009. 'The Roadrunner Years' includes an extended essay by respected journalist Ian Glasper, providing insight into the band's enduring legacy and influence on the thrash metal genre.
