VARATHRON, a legendary occult black metal powerhouse hailing from Greece since 1988, holds a revered status as one of the genre's founding pioneers, alongside Rotting Christ and Necromantia. With six full-length albums in their discography, VARATHRON has consistently delivered their distinctive brand of Hellenic Black Metal.
Among their releases, the mini-CD "The Lament of Gods" originally emerged in 1999 and has long been out of print. As an added bonus, this reissue includes the "Sarmutius Pegorus" demo from 1997, totaling 8 tracks of pure Hellenic Black Metal – a sound only the triumvirate of Greece's leading bands, including Rotting Christ, Necromantia, and Varathron, can masterfully deliver.
The production is helmed by George Zacharopoulos, also known as Morbid/Magus Wampyr Daoloth (Necromantia, ex Rotting Christ), with the bonus tracks remastered by Achilleas Kalantzis (Varathron, Vio Lence, Possessed). A complete overhaul of the booklet and cover design by RaDesign (Possessed, Malevolent Creation) completes this reissue, ensuring that this piece of black metal history receives the presentation it deserves.
