Previously only available as a bonus on the double LP reissue of the Death Metal album or as part of the Historia Mortis box set (released and instantly sold out by Nuclear Blast Records in 2023), this essential slab of Swedish death metal history is now unleashed in its own right.
Issued by Spanish label BlackSeed Productions in conspiracy with Black Sleeves and under license from Nuclear Blast, this edition is limited to 500 copies—half pressed on classic black vinyl, the other half on striking electric blue wax. Hail to the kings of Swedish Death Metal!
Two months before the release of their classic Death Metal album in August 1997, the undisputed masters of Swedish brutality, DISMEMBER, released the Misanthropic CD-EP as a preview of what was to come. The EP featured the crushing title track “Misanthropic” alongside a ferocious cover of “Pagan Saviour,” a standout cut from AUTOPSY’s 1989 debut Severed Survival—a band whose influence loomed large over early DISMEMBER.
To complete the release, the band included three additional exclusive tracks, recorded during the same sessions but intentionally kept separate from the full-length album. The result is a brutal mini-album packed with relentless chugging riffs, thick chainsaw guitars, and pulverizing vocals—a savage blend of the raw aggression heard on Pieces and the melodic fluidity of Indecent and Obscene.
This is pure, vintage DISMEMBER—upholding the proud tradition of Swedish Death Metal in all its glory.
