Ukrainian black metal, new pressing of 2020 full length. One of the best black metal projects from Roman Sayenko (Hate Forest, Drudkh, Windswept).
Hailing from Ukraine, Precambrian boasts a lineup rich in underground experience. This power trio, featuring members currently active in Drudkh and with past ties to the revered Blood of Kingu, is led by Roman Saenko, a founding member of the influential Hate Forest. Drawing heavily from Hate Forest's legacy, Precambrian's sound is a continuation of Saenko's vision, amplified by the collective prowess of the current Drudkh lineup.
The band's journey began with the Proarkhe EP in 2014, followed by the Aeon EP two years later. In 2021, these EPs were merged into the Glaciology EP, featuring three previously unreleased tracks. However, it's with their long-awaited debut album, Tectonics, that Precambrian truly shines.
Upon diving into Tectonics, listeners are immediately engulfed by the ominous, hypnotic surge reminiscent of classic Hate Forest. The album masterfully juxtaposes savage, searing speed with trance-inducing melodies, creating a captivating and immersive experience. Saenko's grandly guttural vocals serve as the perfect conduit for this peculiar yet powerful blend of brutality and transcendence.
