A couple of years ago ANGEROT turned heads in the underground metal scene with the release of their debut album The Splendid Iniquity in 2018. Enlisting the infamous Tomas Skogsberg at Sunlight Studios to help invoke some Swedish magic to the project, The Splendid Iniquity was a solid introduction for the band and received a plethora of postive reviews. While the band itself may appear fairly young, ANGEROT's members are far from newcomers to the scene having roots that stem back to the origin's of Mid-Western US Death Metal. With this pedigree it is more easy to explain their colossal jump from one album to the next. Redefining Darkness Records are extemely excited to be a herald for The Becoming; the evolution of ANGEROT with their forthcoming album The Divine Apostate. While this new offering includes the HM-2 worship plastered all over their debut, the Swedish elements are toned down immensely and are replaced with a wonderful palate of Death and Black Metal leanings that range from early-mid Morbid Angel years to Behemoth of the last decade. The band also found a way to incorporate outside ingredients to aid in it's grandiousity reminding me of my favorite era of Celtic Frost. It's refreshing to hear a band, while in love with the tone of the HM-2, that are not slaves to it and very well prove it with this incredibly stunning release! The growth of this band from their debut is MASSIVE - I think this album will take many by surprise and may even appear on some of your End of Year favorites. And for the proverbial cherry on top, ANGEROT recruited guests Snowy Shaw ( King Diamond, Memento Mori, Notre Dame, etc ), Terrance Hobbs (Suffocation), and Ben Ash (Carcass, Satyricon - live) to add a little extra "POP" to this already tantalizing dish.
