Dark and depressive are some of the most overused adjectives in doom metal, yet there are no better words to describe Fall of the Idols third plague upon the world. Since the foundation of the band over a decade ago, Fall of the Idols have practiced traditional yet unconventional doom and Solemn Verses is no exception; maybe more than ever the cold, Northern despondency is present throughout the recording.
The process of creating Solemn Verses took place between 2009- 2011 amidst the aftermath of a global economic crisis. With their hallmark restrained gravitas and majesty the band set out to contemplate existence and the fervor of human thought and rationale or rather, the Homo economicus. From the blissful waters of Lethe to the lethal intrinsic value of labor, Solemn Verses shall strip false hope and alienate You from yourselves.
The album is a tribute to the memory of the late Hannu Weckman _ who not only played the drums but acoustic and lead guitars as well.
