Characterized by a heavy, distorted, grinding guitar-driven sound, England's Discharge raw, shouted vocals and insightful lyrics made them a favorite on anarcho lists. Discharge had a number of charting albums in the UK in the early 80's. With the addition of Peter "Pooch" Purtil in 1982, the band's sound crossed even further into metal as evidenced on their later recordings. The original line-up reunited in in 2000, allowing another generation of new bands to be influenced by their sounds.
