2022 CD re-issue of the second album limited to only 500 copies.
Angelcorpse rallies the forces with "Exterminate," an album that masterfully amalgamates elements of classical, archaic death metal reminiscent of Morbid Angel's "Altars of Madness" era. This unholy concoction also weaves in the breakneck speeds and thrash/black metal ferocity of early Sodom, a touch of pure black metal with a certain Marduk-like intensity, and a sprinkle of grindcore inspiration, likely inherited from mainman Pete Helmkamp's earlier involvement with the death/black/grind cult act, Order From Chaos. The result is nothing short of chaos incarnate.
John Longstreth's drumming is a frenetic onslaught, teetering on the precipice between control and anarchy. His lightning-fast blast beats and intricate fills ensure there's never a dull moment. Guitarists Bill Taylor and the core member, Gene Palubicki, unleash a relentless barrage of riffs that are the very essence of the firestorm that is "Exterminate." Attempting to pinpoint standout riffs is a futile endeavor, given the consistently high quality throughout the album. Even more than 25 years after its 1998 release, "Exterminate" stands as a testament to unwavering dedication. Every facet of the album, from its artwork and lyrics to its production and, most crucially, its music, has been meticulously crafted, resulting in a work that continues to astonish and captivate.
