"Donde Habitan Los Muertos" was already released back in 1995 and was the debut album of this 1991 founded Mexican band. What we have here is a Death / Thrash Metal album with lots of technical variations and a vocalist whose style ranges from deep growling to nervous blackened screaming. Some traditional Mexican instruments were also added to Mictaln's music which gives this release a bit of a nice exotic flair. Unfortunately the sound quality is quite low and the drums are drowning somewhere in the background. The guitar- and the bass-section deliver a few nice ideas and riffs, but sometimes the guys fail following their own rhythms and claims. Nevertheless the members have a vision and they do their very best to bring you Folk influenced Death / Thrash with lyrics about ancient civilisations and Aztec myths and legends. As mentioned before, the big flaw is the production that ruins almost every cool idea on this album. So it's simply up to you if you give Mictlan a chance or not.
