Those among you who still worship the primordial extreme metal of the founders days, shall embrace the band Apokalyptic Raids and their debut single ?Maximum Metal Mayhem'. When the words ?Apokalyptic Raids' are uttered, the connoisseur clicks the tongue and immediately the name Hellhammer comes to mind. And where Hellhammer left of there you will find Apokalyptic Raids as well as Warhammer. Fans of catchiest and technical stuff will run screaming, but these songs haven't been done for these people. This trio approaches exactly those die hard maniacs, who especially value the raw sound, the primordial feeling and the ugly honesty of long lost days, meaning the old Sodom, Kreator, Venom and especially Hellhammer fans. The music definitely has no beauty, but is damn mangy, very intense and with tons of corners and edges. Sure, this is unoriginal, but as the godfathers of Death/Black Metal are long gone, these Brazilians have taken it on themselves to continue the almighty heritage and they do a damn good job! After this single the band changed their spelling to Apokayptic Raids instead of Apocalyptic Raids.
This single is a split with American act Gravewurm that started back in 1990. The band plays a form of dark and cryptic doom/death metal influenced by the 80s metal masters Sodom, Slaughter, Candlemass, Kreator, Venom, Possessed and Hellhammer/Celtic Frost.
